APEC disruption to AIMEX 2007 expected to be minimal

Despite concerns over the holding of the APEC conference – with its high security plans in place – on the Friday and weekend immediately following AIMEX, it appears that disruption to visitors and exhibitors will be minimal.

Please click here for the latest APEC Bulletin.

For your convenience, below are some key notes on transport arrangement during APEC. For all details, please refer to NSW Transport Infoline website http://www.131500.com.au/ and select the Events page.

City Rail:
Sunday 2 September to Thursday 6 September 2007
All City Rail services will operate to the normal timetable.

From Friday 7 to Sunday 9 September inclusive, Circular Quay, Museum and St James stations will be closed.  Central, Town Hall, Martin Place and Wynyard stations will continue to operate as normal during this period.

On Friday 7 September 2007, a Saturday timetable will operate.
There will be no direct trains from Central to Olympic Park. Please change trains or buses from Lidcome station. Trains that would normally run via Circular Quay will either terminate at Central or run via Town Hall to the North Shore Line.

The Nore Shore line and Eastern Suburbs line are not affected by APEC.

Airport Rail Link
The Airport Rail Link will remain open during APEC. The public is strongly encouraged to use the Airport Rail Link rather than drive to the airport. Given the closures outlined above, it will not be possible to catch a train to or from the airport to Circular Quay, Museum or St James stations from Friday 7 September to Sunday 9 September.

Ferries:
On Friday 7 September 2007, weekend timetable will operate

JetCat services to and from Manly will not operate during the long weekend from Friday 7 September to Sunday 9 September.

Vehicles:
Vehicles entering Bridge and Macquarie Streets may be required to undergo security searches. For more information on traffic and road closure please visit the APEC website http://www.apec2007.org/

Taxis:
Taxis will be allowed to travel into the declared area but there may be delays.
